Life After Google Reader: How to Find Coffee and Cannolis

Many blog readers have relied on Google Reader for quite awhile now to get updates on their favorite blogs, seeing in one feed when they've posted a new update.  I am definitely one of those many people.  I subscribe to hundreds of food blogs probably, and now several home and parenting blogs.  Plus pop culture, business and news.  Whew, it's a lot of blogs, trust me.  But when Google made the announcement a few months ago that they would be getting rid of Reader I nearly cried.  Was I really expected to sign up for email notifications from like 300 blogs?  I love my blogs, but no thank you! After searching and playing around with a few alternatives for a few weeks, I've found a blog reader I enjoy and feel will be a good replacement for Google.  Enter Feedly .  I enjoy the look and feel of Feedly, and -dork alert- I enjoy that I can change my layout and color.  It's the little things that excite me like that.  Over the last month or so I've noticed a few chang

Thirty One Organizing Utility Tote and Fundraiser

Have you ever used Thirty One products?  If not, you're missing out, especially if you're as anal as I am about keeping my stuff organized while out and about (though oddly not my purse!)  Admittedly, I don't have many Thirty One items, but lately they've been my go-to gift for the moms, and they've been loving them! With Father's Day last weekend, and the annual pool "party" that coincides with Father&

Key Lime Gooey Butter Cake

I'm from St. Louis.  The home of Gooey Butter Cake.  Many people think it's a Paula Deen creation, and how could you not when you see how much butter is in it, but you can't go in to a restaurant, bakery or grocery store without seeing gooey butter somewhere in St. Louis.  We love it.  What's not to love with butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, oh my! But, considering I've made it numerous times, I'm always up for a new variation.  Nutella?   Check !  Cookies?  Don't mind if I do !  Pumpkin?  Well of course !  While talking to my mom about what to bring to a family function, she mentioned she saw a recipe for key lime gooey butter cake.  Sold!  I've never heard of the website she sent over to me, but it looked similar to the basics of every other recipe I've used for Gooey Butter Cake so I knew I wanted to give it a try! One thing people may not realize is that Gooey Butter Cake is very easy to make.  Just a few ingredients really!  Just mix
